The vision

The International Artist Academy (IAA) offers quality music lessons in Australia and aims to create the complete artist – singer, instrumentalist, and song-writer.

In today’s music industry, regardless of genre, it is becoming more difficult to succeed without being multi-skilled. Many of the successful touring artists are unique in their craft and often create their own sound.

At IAA, we give our students the opportunity to become ‘a complete artist’, hence we provide the highest level of  technical foundations but at the same time, encouraging creativity and individuality.

We specialize in both the contemporary and classical genres.

As part of the IAA vision, we believe that it is essential to give our students performance opportunities through PERFORMANCE NIGHTS which serve to provide additional experience for our students on top of their music lessons.These showcases allow our students to develop their craft in becoming a “complete artist”.

Furthermore, IAA offers its students professional recording experience, giving IAA students a window into the “behind-the-scenes” of the music industry.

We also believe in our students achieving their personal goals and this may mean just taking music up as a hobby, recording an EP, simply working towards a first-time performance or writing/recording an original song.

Our teachers not only serve as music tutors but also as a mentors, building rapport with each individual student.

Contemporary

Current students have featured in Wicked (08/09), Jungle Book (09), Grease (09), Top 10 Australian Idol 2008 (Mark Spano), Miss Saigon 07, Boy from Oz Arena Spectacular, ShakeDown 2006, LICKS (Village Cinemas), Disney Japan/Malaysia, Alphastate. IAA has also been contracted by the NBL South Melbourne Dragons to provide singers for the National Anthem

Working together with Yin Yang Productions, the academy is already writing/producing hit songs both locally and internationally (see YIN YANG PRODUCTIONS).

Classical

Students have obtained High Distinctions and Distinctions in AMEB Practical and Written examinations with many students taking out prizes in McDonald’s City of Sydney Eisteddfod, St. George Eisteddfod, Inner-West Eisteddfod and other Sydney Metropolitan eisteddfods.
